About RFSAT and its History:
RFSAT is a young university spin-off organization first established in 2004 in the United Kingdom.
It has originally concentrated on research and development through national UK research funding, industrial consultancy and deployment of research results in the telecommunications industry. The areas of activities originally included Digital Signal Processing, audio / video broadcasting and cooperation systems and GNSS positioning systems.
At the end of 2004 it has established a second branch in Greece concentrated on participation in European FP6 and later FP7 activities, which has finally become its main centre of operations in the fall of 2006. With this move the list of activities expanded to hybrid indoor (wireless) and outdoor (GNSS with assisted and differential variants) positioning and localization systems, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), networked audiovisual systems and mobile applications and services.
In 2007 RFSAT established a new Media Technologies & Performing Arts group with aim to address new technological trends in all aspects of Performing Arts, from theatre and dance to multimedia presentations, future cimena and 3D television.
RFSAT is currently strongly investing into European Framework 7 (FP7) activities in the thematic areas of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Environment, Space, Transport, Security and eHealth.
